Did you make a New Year’s Resolution this past January? We recognize it’s very easy to get sidetracked with your plans. Now is the time to regain control of your goals and, if you’ve lost ground, get yourself back on track!

Are you halfway there yet?

  • Whatever your year-end goal is, we are into month eight so you should have reached the halfway point by now.
  • If you’re not halfway there yet, is there a legitimate reason that you’re behind, and can you take steps to catch up?
  • With only 4 months left, spreading the remainder of your goal across those months can still help you attain your final goal.

Is your goal still compelling and relevant?

  • It’s possible that your life changed direction and your goal is no longer important. Make changes now rather than continuing down the wrong path.
  • Perhaps the end measurement wasn’t really the goal (weight vs strength) so evaluate your end goal and keep the focus on the right target.
  • Short-term goals can impact a larger goal, has something additional come up during your year that implies an interim goal is needed?

Do you have enough support?

  • Sometimes taking on goals seems exciting at the beginning but become mundane after a while. Revisit your reason, your “why”, for setting this goal in the first place.
  • Do you need more information or research to complete the harder pieces of your plan?
  • Do you have enough time and resources to complete your goal? As goals develop, we sometimes run into more effort than we planned requiring changes.

Are you considering aiming higher or bigger?

  • If your goal seemed like enough when you started but now seems too easy, consider adding to it for a greater result.
  • If you are seeing that your goal could benefit others, find a way to incorporate more people into the fold.
  • Celebrate the accomplishments you have made now as a boost to go even further than you thought possible.
